Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Expression in Rat Fetal and Postnatal Epidermis

Abstract
|
|
|
This study was done to investigate the distribution and number of EGFR in the perinatal rat epidermis by using immunohistochemistry.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. In fetal epidermis EGFRs were observed throughout the whole layer of epidermis.
2. Light stained cells were observed through the whole layer of epidermis till 10-day of age and thereafter observed only in the basal layer, and especially strong positive reaction is observed at neonatal 1-day.
3. From these results the intense immunoreactivity for EGFR was observed at neonatal 1-day, which was supposed to be critical period for skin development.
